This study, supported by GIZ and part of the Sustainable Urban Mobility in the South Caucasus initiative, addressed Batumi’s critical parking challenges. Focused on a pilot area, the project aimed to reduce transport-related greenhouse gas emissions and improve urban mobility. Key outputs included the identification of optimal parking configurations, a phased implementation plan, and strategies for introducing park-and-ride systems.
The project also recommended innovative solutions like pavement parking prohibition using planters and cycle stands and emphasized the importance of enforcement and clear signage. The study laid a robust foundation for sustainable parking policies in Batumi.
